HONOLULU (KHON2) — Road work on some of the city’s busiest streets will be occurring in the coming days, with the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction doing work from Oct. 6 to Oct. 24.
The department will be installing vehicle loop detectors, striping and pavement markers at the intersection of Kapiʻolani Boulevard and Kalākaua Avenue from Oct. 6 to Oct. 8.
The work will occur between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
A week later, the city’s department will be doing additional work from Harding Avenue to Atkinson Drive from Oct. 13 to Oct. 24.
Work will occur Mondays through Thursdays, with no weekend work scheduled. The construction will be conducted overnight, from 7 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
Drivers can expect lane closures and delays during this work, and are encouraged to budget for extra travel time, the city said.
Additionally, it is important to drive carefully through construction zones for the safety of drivers and workers alike. There will be posted signage at the scenes to aid in safe driving.
