Man, 73, dies in moped crash on South King Street

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 73-year-old man was declared dead at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday following a moped crash at the intersection of South King Street and Elsie Lane in the McCully area.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the man was traveling eastbound in the bike lane on South King Street on Monday afternoon, when he lost control and slid-out.

He was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

This incident marks the 27th Traffic Fatality on O’ahu this year.
