Man charged for attempted murder after trying to run over officer

HONOLULU (KHON2) — On August 19, 2024, police in Makakilo spotted a stolen vehicle.

The car later stopped in Ewa Beach, where officers approached on foot.

The driver then accelerated toward an officer, striking him and causing injuries.

The driver was arrested and faced charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

The male passenger was also arrested, facing charges of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and promoting dangerous drugs.

As of August 21, 2024, the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney charged the driver, 40-year-old Jeffrey Moral Pascua, with attempted murder in the first degree and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle in the first degree.

Bail has been set at $500,000.
