HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the downtown Honolulu area near Punchbowl and Beretania.
The area was first shut down at approximately 10:34 a.m., according to an HNL Alert, which cited a police investigation as the cause.
Police at the scene confirmed that a man is dead, who was shot by an officer.
In a statement, The Queen’s Medical Center said no patients, visitors or staff were harmed and they are “fully cooperating with HPD’s investigation.”
At 12:22 p.m., an HNL Alert was sent out that announced the reopening of one lane of Punchbowl Street between Vineyard Boulevard and Beretania Street.
Officials said there was no threat to the public and the investigation remains ongoing.
