Man dead in Wahiawa Annex shooting; suspect arrested

WAHIAWA, Hawaii (KHON2) — A 23-year-old man has died following a shooting incident at the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific.

According to military officials, the shooting happened in the housing area at the Wahiawa Annex around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9.

The shooting left a 23-year-old male in critical condition. He was taken to the hospital and later died from wounds.

Officials said the suspect in custody “is assigned to the 25th Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade.”

While it is unclear at this time what led to the shooting, base officials said there is no further threat to the installation or the surrounding community.

“We are working closely with U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), U.S. Navy, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Security Forces, local law enforcement, and U.S. Army Hawaiʻi leadership to ensure the safety and care of our community,” officials said.
