Maui doctor accused of trying to kill wife wants her phone records

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Maui doctor accused of trying to kill his wife on her birthday wants her phone records.

Gerhardt Konig’s attorney filed a motion for Arielle Konig’s call records, text messages and social media logs from August 2024 to June 2025.

The prosecution is fighting that request.

The subpoenas in this case, which demand a near-total sweep of Ms. Konig’s digital communications, lack any showing of evidentiary value and invade privileged and constitutionally protected areas of Ms. Konig’s life. They are improper, unjustified, and an invasion of Ms. Konig’s privacy. These types of overbroad “fishing expedition” subpoenas with dubious relevancy are unreasonable and oppressive, and must be quashed.

Gerhardt Konig is charged with attempted murder after being accused of trying to push his wife off a Pali trail on her birthday back in March.
