HONOLULU (KHON2) — Around 6:45 p.m., Maui Police Department and Haleakala National Park Rangers were called to a brush fire off Crater Road.
Crater Road has since been closed between Mile Marker 8 and Mile Marker 10 as Maui firefighters battle the flames.
No word yet on what caused the fire. The public is asked to avoid the area “as the road is narrow and winding.”
Police and rangers are helping direct traffic.
