HONOLULU (KHON2) — A fire weather alert has been issued for Leeward portions of all Hawaiian Islands.
The National Weather Service issued the alert on Wednesday, Oct. 22 to be in effect from Friday morning, Oct. 24 to the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 25.
Leeward portions of all islands, interior sections of Oahu and the Big Island, as well as all of North Big Island are included in the affected area.
The NWS predicts winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a relative humidity as low as 40 to 45 percent.
It is recommended to refrain from lighting outdoor fires during this time, as any fires that develop have a high probability of spreading rapidly.
