Memorial service to honor Twinkle Borge scheduled

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, to honor Twinkle Borge, the esteemed leader of Puuhonua O Waianae (POW).

The service will celebrate Borge’s contributions to her community and her pioneering efforts to address houselessness on Oahu’s Leeward coast.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Puuhonua O Waianae Farm Village.

The formal program is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

During the service, Hawaii Governor Josh Green, MD, will present a Certificate in Memoriam to Borge’s family, along with a proclamation designating September 15 as a Day of Aloha in her honor.

City Councilmember Andria Tupola will also speak about Borge’s impact and present a Certificate in Memoriam from the City and County of Honolulu.

Among those expected to attend are former Governor David Ige, U.S. Representative Jill Tokuda, Statewide Homeless and Housing Solutions Coordinator John Mizuno, and several state legislators including Rep. Cedric Gates and Rep. Darius Kila, as well as Sen. Cross Makani Crabbe.

Parking is available at the Waianae Small Boat Harbor, with shuttle services provided to the farm village.
