HONOLULU (KHON2) — Want to put your holiday cheer on display? The city is looking for non-profit organizations to create displays for the annual Honolulu City Lights.
Non-profit organizations that qualify must submit their applications by the due date to be entered into the lottery system. Five display spaces are available and will be selected through the lottery drawing.
Applications are due by Monday, Sept. 15, at 4:30 pm. Organizations can submit their applications if they are postmarked by the due date or delivered by hand to the Department of Facility Maintenance.
The drawing will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 10 am in the Mission Memorial Auditorium. Attendance is optional for applicants and does not affect your chances of selection.
To qualify, applicants must be:
- A non-profit organization under HRS Chapter 414D,
- A charitable organization formed pursuant to HRS Chapter 467B or
- A tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Honolulu City Light Display has been igniting the city with holiday spirit since 1958, when the first tree was lit and decorated for all to enjoy.
