Mixed Plate on the road again after 3-year hiatus

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hong Kong is still recovering from the COVID economic slump and is facing another downturn in visitors from the West. The majority of tourists are from China and Southeast Asia, which are its backyards.

One taxi driver, who maneuvers through mid-day traffic to get KHON2 to the pier in time, said tourists expect more and spend less.

KHON2 had a ship to catch and at nightfall, we skirted the shoreline of Hong Kong Harbor into the South China Sea.

Through the Strait of Hainan and the Gulf of Tonkin lies Vietnam’s fabled treasure Ha Long Bay.

Beyond is Cambodia, where we greeted the silent guardians of Angkor Wat and frolicked in the Mekong.

Finally, the Straits of Malacca revealed their own gem, the pearl of the peninsula, Singapore.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a mixed plate without scrumptious plates to sample along the way.

It’s all on Mixed Plate on the High Seas, this week on KHON2.
