KAPOLIE, Hawaii (KHON2) — On July 17, around 10 a.m., the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center had to evacuate its satellite clinic at Kapolei Medical Park, West Oʻahu Community Health, in response to a building issue.
However, the WCCHC did not let this stop them from serving their walk-in patients. Workers quickly deployed their mobile health clinic, a van equipped to provide care.
“It created some obstacles, definitely created some delays with operations. But once we got the green light to return back to clinic, the team was able to assess the situation at hand,” said Savannah Keawe, Senior Clinic Manager at the location. “Proper department heads were notified of the situation, and a rapid plan was devised and initiated. Shortly after the information was shared with our department, our mobile clinic arrived on scene.”
Operations returned to normal a few hours later, and the WCCHC is once again taking their walk-in patients inside.
The company had high praise for their employees for their adaptability in the tough circumstances.
“Everyone here at the location did a phenomenal job with reassuring patient safety, and staff safety,” said Savannah Keawe, Senior Clinic Manager at the location. “Ensuring that everyone got to where they needed to be and coming together as a unit, as an ʻohana.”
