HONOLULU (KHON2) — For nearly five decades, Aloha Stadium has been a gathering place of entertainment for the community. A farewell mahalo event for Aloha Stadium with a stacked lineup of local talent is prepared on Oct. 25 — and there’s still time to get tickets!
“They have been putting together, just a whole reel of memories and videos, so in between the artists, we’re going to be showing highlights of you know past football games, past concerts, really to kind of take you back and put you almost like you’re in the bowl again,” said Samantha Spain, Aloha Stadium communications specialist.
“Aloha Stadium has been more than a place — it’s been part of our lives,” said Henry Kapono, a beloved local musician.
Kapono performed at the stadium’s first concert, making it all that more special to have him on stage for the last one.
The musicians playing at the final event include:
- Henry Kapono & Friends (with Brother Noland, Mānoa DNA, Tavana, Kimié Miner and Anuhea)
- Ekolu
- Kanaka Fyah
- The Mākaha Sons
- Ho’onu’a
- Hawaiian Style Band
“In addition to all of the great artists, TMR has set up probably one of the largest stages here for the state of Hawaii. It really is a family event, from your grandparents to the young kids that can come,” said Samantha Spain, Aloha Stadium communications specialist.
The event has also prepared a firework finale for attendees to enjoy.
