‘More than Pink Walk’ takes over Kapiolani Park in October

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Kapiolani park gets really pink in October. That’s because the “More Than Pink Walk”, hosted by Susan G. Komen Hawaii, takes over to raise funds to cure breast cancer.

Executive Director Rolanda Morgan tells us Komen’s mission is three interrelated areas: research, direct patient support and public policy and advocacy.

She says every donation, volunteer and advocate drives progress toward a world without breast cancer. Komen events, such as this walk, bring the breast cancer community together, offering direct support, building connections and fueling progress to end the disease.

She says through groundbreaking research, bold public policy, evidence-based information and direct patient support, Susan G. Komen is improving outcomes and providing care for those facing breast cancer today.

Komen holds events coast to coast to bring communities together to support those who have been impacted by the disease and raise money for patient services, policy efforts and cutting-edge research.

Over the past 30 years, 29 new breast cancer fighting drugs were made possible in part due to Komen research funding.
