HONOLULU (KHON2) — Your work could shine bright at Honolulu Hale this year! The 2025 Holiday Wreath Contest is part of the Honolulu City Lights celebration, and this year’s theme is “Navigating by the stars.”
Oʻahu residents can submit their wreaths on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Honolulu Hale. Each entry must have a completed form with it.

The contest will display all wreath submissions in Lane Gallery from Nov. 29 to Dec. 31.
Wreath requirements
Before you submit, check that your wreath meets the following requirements:
- Minimum wreath diameter is 12 inches with a maximum diameter of 48 inches.
- Maximum acceptable weight for wreaths is 30 pounds.
- Rigid and circular in shape with an opening in the center and include a loop for hanging.
- Must be decorated by the entrant.
- May not contain any food products, perishable items, political statements
or commercial advertising. - Must not require an electrical hook up.
Once your wreath is hung you cannot adjust or re-arrange, said the city and county.
Contest Categories
- Adult Wreath Division: For individuals or groups ages 18 and older.
- Youth Wreath Division: For individuals or groups ages 17 or younger.
- Theme Division: Open to all ages; entries must reflect the theme.
Entrants can submit one wreath per category, but each wreath may be entered in only one category.
The City and County of Honolulu said entries will be judged on workmanship, creativity and use of materials.
Awards
- First Place: $150.
- Second Place: $100.
- Third Place: $75.
- Mayor’s Holly Award (Best in Show): $200.
- Judge’s Choice Award (For two wreaths from each category): $25.
There can only be one award per entrant.
Winners will be notified by Nov. 21 and receive a ribbon with their monetary award.
How to submit your wreath
Participants can submit their wreath in the Lane Gallery of Honolulu Hale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 17. No early or late entries will be accepted.
Each wreath must have a completed entry form. Rules and entry forms are available at all Satellite City Halls or may be downloaded online.

Metered parking is available on King Street, Punchbowl Street, and in the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center Parking Structure on the corner of Alapa’i and Beretania Streets.
