A pair of defensive players with Hawaii ties had standout performances on Sunday, as Kahuku’s Alohi Gilman and Hawaii alum Jahlani Tavai each had takeaways for their respective teams.
Gilman had his first interception of the year in a 27-10 win over the Cleveland Browns, returning it for 18 yards. He continued his stellar year with the Los Angeles Chargers with five tackles (four solo) and a pass deflection.

Additionally, former Hawaii linebacker Jahlani Tavai had a standout performance for the New England Patriots, producing a team-high 11 tackles (six solo) to go with a one-handed interception, a tackle for loss and a pass deflection in a 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans in overtime.

Jonah Laulu, defensive lineman, Las Vegas Raiders (University of Hawaii): Laulu had four tackles (one solo) in a 41-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Marist Liufau, linebacker, Dallas Cowboys (Punahou): Liufau had a pass deflection in a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Marcus Mariota, quarterback, Washington Commanders (Saint Louis): Mariota was active but did not play in a 27-22 win over the New York Giants.
Kana’i Mauga, linebacker, Las Vegas Raiders (Waianae): Mauga played on special teams and also saw time at fullback, serving as the lead blocker in the first score of a 41-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Darius Muasau, linebacker, New York Giants (Mililani and University of Hawaii): Muasau had a tackle in a 27-22 loss to the Washington Commanders.
Rigoberto Sanchez, punter, Indianapolis Colts (University of Hawaii): Sanchez punted three times for a total of 148 yards in a 21-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football.
Isaac Seumalo, offensive lineman, Pittsburgh Steelers (born in Hawaii): The Steelers had a bye during Week 9.
Tua Tagovailoa, quarterback, Miami Dolphins (Saint Louis): Tagovailoa completed 25 of his 28 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-27 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He also ran twice for a total of three yards.
