HONOLULU (KHON2) — The NTSB has opened an investigation into Tuesday afternoon’s plane crash that killed two pilots near the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
Three investigators will travel to the accident scene.
Initial information from the NTSB’s announcement state that the flight crew reported control anomalies shortly after takeoff before crashing into an abandoned building nearby.
The NTSB is asking witnesses to contact them, as well as sending any video or information relevant to the investigation to witness@ntsb.gov.
A preliminary report is expected within 30 days of the accident, with the final report expected in 12 to 24 months.
The last Kamaka Airlines crash happened in January 2023, on approach to Molokai Airport.
According to the NTSB, the pilot did not maintain adequate altitude during a circling approach procedure at night, which caused the crash.
