Oahu’s 30th traffic fatality: Woman killed in Nimitz crash

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The woman who was hit by two cars on Nimitz Highway on Tuesday, May 20, has died.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the crash happened just after 9 p.m. on North Nimitz Highway in the Airport area.

Officials said the 29-year-old woman was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 52-year-old female driver who was heading westbound.

She was lying on the roadway when she was hit again. This time, by a 57-year-old male driver.

Paramedics with Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident and took the pedestrian to the hospital in critical condition.

On May 22, HPD announced that the woman involved in the crash succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

Officials said this is Oahu’s 30th traffic fatality of 2025, compared to 12 traffic fatalities at the same time in 2024.

The investigation remains ongoing.
