HONOLULU (KHON2) — The multi-agency search continued on Monday for 59-year-old Jon Naeole, whose paddle and one-man canoe were found several hundred yards offshore of Kailua Beach Sunday morning.
Officials say Naeole’s one-man canoe (OC-1) was found overturned about 300 yards off Popoiʻa Island, also known as Flat Island, just after 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19.
His paddle was discovered roughly 200 yards farther away by a passerby on a wind foil, who turned it over to Ocean Safety ski crews.
His family said his truck, phone and keys were later found in his truck parked at the Kailua Beach Park parking lot.
