HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaii Island prosecutors indicted a man from Oklahoma in connection with a deadly crash in February 2024.
Prosecutors said 37-year-old Brandon Walser was driving under the influence when he caused a crash that killed a woman and seriously injured a man on Highway 19 in Hamakua.
Walser was flown to Hilo, where he made his first court appearance on Monday, Oct. 27.
Walser was charged with Manslaughter, Negligent Homicide in the First Degree and Negligent Injury in the First Degree.
His bail is set for $500,000. Another proceedings hearing is set for Dec. 29.
