WAIKĪKĪ (KHON2) — On Oct. 18, a pedestrian was transported to the emergency room in critical condition after being involved in a hit-and-run in the Waikīkī area.
Around 1:30 a.m., HPD officials said that a 44-year-old male pedestrian was crossing Kalakaua Ave. near the intersection of Pau St. in the marked crosswalk when he was hit by a car that continued driving and did not stop to render aid or report information.
EMS reports said when they arrived at the scene they treated the 44-year-old male for multiple injuries before transporting him to an emergency room.
HPD identified the driver to be a 20-year-old male whom they were able to later locate and place under arrest for Collisions Involving Death or Serious Bodily Injury.
The investigation is ongoing and it is still undetermined as to whether speed, alcohol, or drugs were a contributing factor.
