Police investigate email inviting homeless to mayor’s home

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Big Island police are closely monitoring Mayor Mitch Roth’s residence after an email circulated inviting the island’s homeless to stay at his home.

The email, which includes the mayor’s personal address, suggests that individuals are welcome to stay from tonight through Sunday without needing to knock.

County officials confirmed the authenticity of the email and noted that, as a precaution, officers have been deployed to the mayor’s home.
