Police search for drivers involved in hit-and-runs on O‘ahu and Kaua‘i

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Police are investigating two separate hit-and-runs that happened on Kaua‘i and O‘ahu over the past week.

On Kaua‘i, officials are searching for the driver who struck a 72-year-old female pedestrian on Wailaau Road in Kōloa.


34-year-old motorcyclist dies after crashing into concrete center in Waikiki

Reports said the woman was walking eastbound when a “dark-colored full-size pickup truck” struck her before fleeing the scene before the arrival of first responders.

According to KPD, the woman was medevacted to Queens Medical Center and remains in critical condition.

Over on O‘ahu, a 33-year-old female motorcycle passenger was left behind by a male motorcyclist after the pair crashed.

HPD said Sunday’s incident happened around 7:10 p.m. on Waialua Beach Road in the Waialua area.

Reports revealed that the unidentified male motorcyclist “traveled onto the unimproved shoulder and collided into a plastic water barrier” on a dark-colored Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Upon the crash, the two were ejected onto the unimproved shoulder where the male motorcyclist fled the scene, leaving the 33-year-old female in serious condition. Reports said she was not wearing a helmet.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the passenger to an area hospital.
