Popular Chinatown eatery prepares for final week of service

HONOLULU (KHON2) — An Oahu restaurant that’s fed a former president and countless actors and musicians is packing up for a big move.

After more than a decade of serving the Chinatown community, modern Vietnamese eatery, The Pig and the Lady, is moving back to Kaimuki.

The North King Street restaurant has been a favorite for locals, with a lunch crowd that fills every seat, sending a line out the door.

With the 2024 Chinatown power outage and upcoming rail construction, the owners said now is the time to make their move.

“I think we made the right decision. Moving back to Kaimuki, that’s where we’re originally from. We get to build a new kitchen and everything. We had a toy store there 30 years ago, so it’s been there since the 80s. We’re actually coming back home,” Alex Le explained.

Le expressed the business’s gratitude to all the business they’ve received in the Chinatown area and said they will try to find a way to come back.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone for supporting us. We’re super grateful and appreciative and hope to see you guys in Kaimuki.”

Le said they will keep the Chinatown space after the restaurant closes for private events. In the meantime, the current location will remain open until Aug. 30.
