HONOLULU (KHON2) — “The road should be reopening as we speak,” said Kathleen Pahinui, Public Information Officer at Board of Water Supply, on efforts to restore normalcy following Tuesday’s water main break that affected several homes.
Crews have since fixed the large water main, and emergency repaved the section of Dole Street, across from Kanewai Park, that was affected.
Pahinui also said that claims officers went down to speak with residents affected to provide them with the necessary paperwork to begin reimbursement processes.
The Board of Water had asked the surrounding community to reserve water as much as possible, aiming to refill the reservoir, which they say is now finished, and thanks the community for their patience.
“We know this was a terrible inconvenience,” said Pahinui. “Because of the amount of people on that system, in the amount of usage, it was hard for us to get (the reservoir) completely full back up again. So we’re very appreciative of the public’s, our customer’s listening to our requests for conservation.”
“We know the inconvenience that we caused, and we’re terribly sorry for that,” Pahinui added.
