Saint Louis, Waianae, KS-Maui top new State Rankings

The first-ever Cover2 & Hawai‘i Army National Guard State Rankings debuted Monday, ushering in a new era for the weekly poll.

Instead of one statewide Top 12, the rankings now spotlight a Top 5 in each classification, The Open Division, Division I and Division II.

Open Division

No surprises at the top. Defending state champion Saint Louis holds a unanimous No. 1 after a 2–0 start, with statement wins over reigning runner-up Kahuku and California’s Bishop Montgomery. The panel of 14 media members and coaches representing all football-playing islands slotted Mililani, Kahuku, Kapolei and Campbell to round out the Top 5. This Saturday, it will be No. 1 vs. No. 2 as Saint Louis travels to Central O’ahu to face Mililani.

Division I

Parity is the theme. Waianae edges into No. 1, followed by Waipahu, Kailua, Kapa‘a and Damien, with each program picking up at least one first-place vote, a snapshot of how wide open this race could be.

Division II

Kamehameha–Maui opens at No. 1, with Kalaheo, Roosevelt, KS–Hawai‘i and Pac-Five close behind.
