‘ANINI, Hawaii (KHON2) — Search efforts are underway for a swimmer who went missing in waters off Kaua‘i’s ‘Anini Beach.
A 59-year-old man from Arizona was reported missing around 12:15 p.m. when he was snorkeling “near the back channel of ‘Anini Beach.”
Multiple first responder agencies are assisting with the search in air, sea and shoreline search.
In addition to Hanalei firefighters and the Ocean Safety Bureau, the U.S. Coast Guard and Kaua‘i Police Department responded to the incident.
Officials said the man’s family is being assisted by volunteers from Life’s Bridges, a grief counseling service.
