HONOLULU (KHON2) — This year marks the 27th year of the annual Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii ceremony, honoring those lost while bringing thousands together for a remarkable experience.
WakeUp2Day’s Chris Latronic went live from the event site at Ala Moana Beach Park with a preview.
Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi – Many Rivers, One Ocean is a ceremony conducted annually at Ala Moana Beach.
Candle-lit lanterns are floated in the water to carry our gratitude and prayers for all spirits and forms of life that have supported our existence since the beginning of time.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of belief or background, to take part in this physical expression of love and remembrance for those who have touched our lives.
Visit the tent from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on ceremony day to receive a lantern to personally float during the ceremony.
Collective Remembrance Lanterns – Write a remembrance to be included on these special wooden-framed lanterns floated by volunteers from canoes during the ceremony.
Ceremony attendees may choose from the off-site parking and shuttle at the Olomehani Street lot or use code “LANTERN2025” for discounted parking at Ala Moana Center.
