At Ala Moana Center, dozens of stores participated, with one standout being Aloha Collection, where the line of eager shoppers wrapped around the corner.

“I’m here for the Fukubukuro sale, specifically for Aloha Collection because I love their products,” said Doreen Sokolowski, a Makaha resident. “I heard the girls in the front line were here at 4:30 this morning. I thought about doing that, but New Year’s Eve was too noisy, and I couldn’t sleep early.”

Despite the early morning crowds, Sokolowski said the wait was “totally worth it.”
