HONOLULU (KHON2) – The next phase of Honolulu’s Skyline rail is set to open Thursday, Oct. 16, adding four new stops from Aloha Stadium to Middle Street.
The new stations are at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Lagoon Drive and Kalihi Transit Center.
City officials gave reporters a ride on the new section this week to show how testing is going before the public opening.
When the new line opens, Skyline trains will run daily from 4 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with trains arriving every 10 to 15 minutes.
The city will also launch three new rapid bus routes, picking up riders from Lagoon Drive and taking them to Downtown Honolulu, Ala Moana, Waikīkī and UH Mānoa.
Officials say the expansion will make commuting easier and connect more neighborhoods to jobs, schools and major destinations.
