HILO, Hawaii (KHON2) — Kilauea Ave between Mohouli and Pauahi Streets are closed due to a police investigation.
This is the same area where the banyan tree suddenly fell just over a week ago on Saturday, July 12.
Sources told KHON2 that human remains were found under the fallen tree.
Big Island police said the road closure could last a few more hours while crews continue to clear debris from the fallen tree.
