The Milk for Britain campaign: From The H Files

Over the years, long-time Herald researcher/librarian Norma Marr prepared a feature called The H Files, in which she looked back at a myriad of Calgary news events. Here are some of her instalments that were published for September, including one article that encouraged kids to collect money for the Milk for Britain campaign instead of collecting Halloween candy.  Due to the Second World War, Britain put out a call for help, asking for donations that could support nutritional needs for kids in that country. The Kin Canada clubs were instrumental in taking up the call and by the end of the Milk for Britain campaign they had raised almost $3 million and sent 50 million quarts of milk to Britain. Read More
