HONOLULU (KHON2) — This Saturday, our annual Laulima Day will feature a time for us locals to help support struggling keiki, kupuna, and ohana across the state. You can donate and give while receiving a little something for yourself.
CEO Momi Akana said daily items are the most requested this year.
“It’s interesting this year, I would tell you that the greatest need they’re just coming in and saying anything that could help them to survive day to day. We have people who are not even worried about toys almost this year. They need help paying their rent, buying food, paying their electric bills. It really is just their essentials. But we still want to make a great Christmas for children. So we are doing the toy drive for sure,” said Akana.
If you’re interested in volunteering you can call (808) 843-2502.
Akana said they need volunteers at the collection drives, especially at Windward Mall on Oahu.
