HONOLULU (KHON2) — A low pressure system west of Hawaii, combined with high pressure far to the northeast, has resulted in moderate to breezy trade winds. Tthe high pressure to our northeast will strengthen slightly and drift south-southeast as the low to our west slowly moves northward. This will cause a minor increase in wind speeds into the weekend. The low will dissipate through the weekend, and the high pressure northeast of the state will move slightly southwest, closer to the islands early to mid next week, providing another small boost to trade winds in early June.
Small Craft Advisory until 6 PM HST Friday for Kaiwi Channel, Maui County Windward Waters, Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward Waters, Big Island Southeast Waters.
