Trade winds will prevail for the next week

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Trade winds will gradually strengthen Tuesday into Wednesday, with
strong trades expected during the second half of the week. With an increase of trade winds, there will be a slight increase in scattered shower activity mainly focusing over windward areas and will spill over to leeward areas from time to time. These sporadic showers will pass through mostly into the overnight and early morning hours for our state.

Meanwhile, the south facing shores will remain small for the work week. However, surf heights are expected to reach advisory level and peak Sunday into Monday because of a deep low-pressure system currently southeast of New Zealand. This system will send a higher south swell beginning early this weekend. Surf along east facing shores will steadily increase during the second half of the week as the trade winds strengthen locally. North shore surf will remain flat to tiny this week, consistent with the summertime average.
