HONOLULU (KHON2) — Ever wondered what happens to your trash after you throw it away?
Starting Saturday, Aug. 23, the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services is hosting “Tour de Trash: Recyclers and Waste Processors Tour”.
The tour will offer residents a behind-the-scenes look at how Oʻahu’s waste management is managed, recycled, and transformed.
“By seeing the process up close, people gain a better understanding of how their choices at home directly impact our environment,” said Roger Babcock, Department of Environmental Services Director. “Itʻs a great way to inspire more mindful habits that benefit the entire community.”
Participants will visit four sites on the tour, each offering a unique look into different aspects of Hawaii’s waste management. Those sites include RRR Recycling Services, H-POWER, Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill and Hawaiian Earth Recycling (HER).
