HONOLULU (KHON2) — Trick or treating is the classic Halloween activity that the whole family can enjoy, but for many, knocking on door-to-door across the neighborhood isn’t in their comfort zone. But thankfully, there are lots of places to trick or treat across the island.
Pearlridge Candy Crawl
This coming Thursday, Pearlridge Center is hosting its annual Candy Crawl event, where stores will be decorated and ready to pass out candy, and will also include live music and a keiki costume contest.
“Candy Crawl is an event where we invite the public out to come to the mall and store to store to trick or teach to each store,” said Daniel Chong, Pearlridge Center Marketing Director. “Families love it, it’s really safe, it’s indoors so we have security, we have air conditioning, we have restroom facilities.”
With safety being one of the main concerns for families going trick or treating, going through the mall can help provide that, among a few other benefits.
“Being out in a neighborhood where it might rain, it may have high humidity, you don’t have to worry about that at Pearlridge center, you can just have fun here at the mall,” said Chong. “You don’t have to worry about accessibility, you don’t have to worry about parking because there’s tons of parking, we even have escalators that help folks make their way around the mall.”
And the stores throughout the Candy Crawl are also getting ready for the holiday and into the Halloween spirit.
“It’s not a jewelry store on Halloween, we do the decorations, and it’s just a fun time for the kids,” said Jackie Breeden, Owner of Royal Hawaiian Heritage Jewelry. “I can’t tell you what the theme is this year.. that’s a surprise, but we really get into it, it’s one of our favorite holidays to do and to see all of the kids come in.”
Pearlridge’s Candy Crawl will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30.
