HONOLULU (KHON2) — Two juveniles were arrested and charged with burglary and related property offenses following two incidents in Hilo on Wednesday.
According to Hawai’i PD, the suspects, a 14 and 15-year-old teen, were caught on surveillance footage breaking a window at Waiakea Elementary School. They were observed removing items from an office and using fire extinguishers they had taken from Waiakea Intermediate School.
The surveillance footage was shared on social media, leading to the identification of the boys by their family members.
The 15-year-old was turned in to Hilo Police Station by a family member on Thursday, and the 14-year-old was brought in by a parent the following day.
