HONOLULU (KHON2) — Despite the summer travel season, Hawaii saw a decline in visitors in June.
According to the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, 872,000 visitors arrived, marking a 1.9 percent decrease from 2023.
Spending also dropped, with visitors spending $1.1 billion, a 4 percent reduction from the previous year.
Tourism officials attribute the downturn to ongoing concerns about visiting Maui.
