Over 165 First Hawaiian Bank volunteers have been working with community partners and the Catholic Charities Hawai‘i to enhance Oahu’s kupuna gathering place.
“This project is a reflection of our shared commitment to honoring and uplifting our kūpuna,” said Tina Andrade, President & CEO of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i. “We are grateful to First Hawaiian Bank and all our partners for coming together in unity and aloha to create a space that promotes health, joy, and connection for our seniors.”
The Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center, operated by Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, has been providing a variety of health and wellness opportunities to thousands of kupuna since 1981.
“This is much more than a service project, it is a celebration of community, and we are proud to stand with Catholic Charities Hawaii and support the seniors who make this center a vibrant place,” said Project Chair and First Hawaiian Bank Senior Vice President Vernon Wong. “Social responsibility is an intrinsic part of our culture and strengthens the connections between our employees and the communities we serve.”
The volunteers’ beautification projects included gutter replacement, repainting the building, landscaping and sanitizing.
