HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department is urging the public to be cautious on the road after a vehicle slammed into a police vehicle during the early morning hours of July 10.
According to HPD, officers were blocking lanes to clear a traffic hazard near Fort Shafter at the time of the collision.
Footage of the incident released by HPD shows the collision. While officers were outside of their marked vehicle, a car had struck the vehicle and the divider.
The officers were not injured as a result of the collision, but the driver sustained minor injuries, authorities said.
The driver was cited for inattention to driving, police said.
According to HPD, it is best practice to drive safe and slow down when you see the blue police lights flashing in your path.
