‘We are seeing progress:’ Kapiolani Med. Center, HNA continue negotiations

HONOLULU (KHON2) — After three straight days of negotiations, union nurses and Kapiolani Medical Center have yet to agree on a new contract.

Both sides met around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. The hospital released a statement shortly before 7:30 a.m., revealing the discussion was “productive.”

According to the Hawaii Nurses’ Association, discussions revolve around safe patient-to-nurse staffing ratios.

We are seeing progress and have had productive discussions after three straight days of negotiations with the Hawai‘i Nurses’ Association. We mutually agreed to meet again tomorrow and remain committed to reaching an agreement.
