Weather conditions prompt cancelation of Ala Moana Blvd. road work closure

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The weather is taking the postponement of all outdoor activities even further as it also halts the scheduled road work of Ala Moana Blvd.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced they are rescheduling the full closure of Ala Moana Blvd. to Sunday, May 19 and Monday May 20 from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m.

All lanes will be closed on Ala Moana Blvd. in both directions between Ward Ave. and Kamakeʻe St., to safely pour concrete for the Ala Moana Pedestrian Bridge deck

During closure hours, motorists will be detoured to Auahi St. where they may get back onto Ala Moana Blvd by Kamakeʻe St. and Ward Ave.

HDOT said they need two nights of work to finish concrete pours but in the event of another cancelation, work could be scheduled through Friday morning.
