HONOLULU (KHON2) — This is Weekend Roundup, your go-to destination for weekend planning in the islands. For this weekend, we have everything from gardening, live theatre and a powwow.

September 13
Oʻahu
There will be a “WE Are Kalihi — Being Together” event at Dole Middle School in Kalihi.
The free, family-friendly event is designed to emphasize the importance of mental health, wellness and community.
WE Are Kalihi will have vendors selling crafts and food, as well as live entertainment and community resources. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In celebration of 50 years of community gardening, the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation will host a free event at the Foster Botanical Garden.
The event will be made up of educational displays, demonstrations, tours, food and more, and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Later on, there will be a celebration for Oʻahu’s newest bon dance, Megabon. The event will take place at Leeward Community College, with gates opening at 3:45 p.m.
In addition to dance showcases, there will be more than 80 vendors for guests to check out, selling everything from food to merchandise. There will also be a beer garden and keiki games.
There will be no on-site parking, but the Skyline’s operating hours are extended to help people get to and from the event. For more information, visit the Megabon website.
Hawaiʻi Island
The sixth annual Kona Pride Festival will begin at 1 p.m. at the King Kamehameha Beach Hotel.
The all-ages event will include local vendors, live DJ sets and performances from Hawaiʻi-based artists and stars of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

Maui
Maui’s only adult hula competition will be returning to the Castle Theater at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, with group performances and awards on Sept. 13.
Kū Mai Ka Hula is returning for its 18th annual event, and will feature traditional and modern hula styles.
In addition to the performances, there will be displays of crafters selling their locally-made products, as well as food and beverages for sale.

Kauaʻi
The Downtown Lihuʻe Night Market takes place every second Saturday of the month, and this second Saturday is no different.
The market will feature handmade gifts and crafts, as well as food trucks, live entertainment and more. There will be more than 40 local vendors in attendance. The market will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
September 14
Oʻahu
The Hawaiian Humane Society will be having a collaborative event with Rainbow Drive-In in Kapahulu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The shelter will be registering participants for the PetWalk 2025, which is the island’s largest outdoor, pet-friendly event.
Additionally, limited-edition Rainbow Drive-In x Hawaiian Humane Society merchandise will be available for purchase only at the registration event.

At 2 p.m., the Honolulu Theatre for Youth will be putting on a performance of “Tales of Sun and Moon” by Reiko Ho.
The show tells the stories of celestial myths and legends from Hawaiʻi and around the world.

At 5:30 p.m., there will be a historic Kumulipo performance at ʻIolani Palace.
This performance of the renowned Hawaiian cosmogonic genealogical chant will be performed as part of the palace’s Kamaʻāina Sunday.
The performance is dedicated to Queen Liliʻuokalani during her birth month. To register to attend, fill out the online attendance form.
Hawaiʻi Island
In Keaʻau, there will be a Hawaiʻi Island All Nations Powwow at 16-492 Volcano Road.
The event honors the traditions of the indigenous people of America, including Native Hawaiian traditions. The family-friendly event is open to all as they showcase Intertribal dances, song, exhibitions and more.

Maui
There will be a free community seed and plant workshop at Nāulu Farm in Maluaka, Honuaʻula at the Mākena Golf and Beach Club.
Participants will be educated on plant selection and preservation, in a way to bring people closer to the land, or Pilina ʻĀina, which is the event name.
This is the first event in a three-part series, and will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To register for the event, visit their online form.
Kauaʻi
The Princeville Night Market will take place beginning at 4 p.m., lasting until 8 p.m. The night market will feature approximately 40 vendors, who are some of the island’s best artisans.
The market will also feature food trucks, music, photography and more. The event will take place rain or shine at the Princeville Shopping Center.
