HONOLULU (KHON2) — Even though we haven’t made it to Thanksgiving quite yet, it’s time for Oahu residents to start turning their creative wheels for the 2024 Holiday Wreath Contest.
Artists must create wreaths inspired by the theme “Christmas for the Keiki.” Officials said the contest is part of the Honolulu City Lights celebration.
The contest is divided into three categories:
- Adult: Individual or group of participants 18 years of age or older
- Youth: Individuals 17 years of age or younger
- Theme: Wreaths that depict the “Christmas for the Keiki” theme
The wreaths will be judged on workmanship, creativity, use of materials and how well participants incorporated the theme.
Cash prizes and a ribbon will be given to the winners in each division. Judges will award the following prizes to winners:
- First Place: $150
- Second Place: $100
- Third Place: $75
- Judges’ Choice Awards (6): $25
Additionally, a “Best in Show” wreath will receive the Mayor’s Holly Award of $200.
Once participants are ready to submit their wreaths, they should drop them off at Lane Gallery of Honolulu Hale on Monday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a contest entry form.
Officials said early or late entries will not be accepted. Winners will then be selected and notified by Friday, Dec. 6.
The wreaths will be on display at Lane Gallery of Honolulu Hale from Dec. 7, 2024 to Jan. 2, 2025.
