HONOLULU (KHON2) — Drivers are advised to keep these traffic advisories in mind when commuting around Oahu. Here’s what we know.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation has revised the scheduled road closures for the Ala Moana Pedestrian Bridge project.
According to the DOT, a full closure of Ala Moana Blvd will occur one direction at a time between Ward Ave and Kamakee St.
Officials said the eastbound lanes of Ala Moana Blvd will be closed from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, while westbound lanes will be closed from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
The sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists during this time.
Hawaiian Electric also advises drivers to expect traffic impacts in the Waianae and Waipio areas on Thursday.
HECO said crews will be replacing “primary and secondary conductors on several utility poles along Lualualei Homestead Road” from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
To conduct the work, the makai-bound lane of Lualualei will be closed between Glenmonger St and Waianae Valley Rd. near Pokai Bay Beach.
Over in Waipio, HECO crews will “replace a pole along the H-2 Freeway northbound onramp off Ka Uka Blvd.
While no lanes will be blocked, drivers are asked to drive with caution.
On Thursday, HECO will make their way to Lanikai to replace a leaning pole across the Lanikai Monument from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The makai lane of Mokulua will be partially closed from Aalapapa Dr to Kaneapu Pl.
HECO said pedestrians will not be allowed into Lanikai while work is being conducted, but parking lots and bus stops on the mauka side of Mokulua will remain open.
