HONOLULU (KHON2) — The National Weather Service is warning of flash flooding, severe thunderstorms and damaging winds as a low pressure system passes north of the state Thursday.
A cold front will drag across the state from Kauai southeast toward Big Island.
Waterspouts are possible as the Kauai Channel and Oahu waters are under a special marine warning until 11:45 a.m. A special marine warning was set to expire at 11:15 for the Kaiwi Channel, Maui County and Oahu leeward waters.
High wind warnings remain in effect for Maui County until Noon on Friday. Power outages are possible as damaging winds may blow down trees, lines and damage roofs.
A flood watch is in effect for all Hawaiian islands through Friday afternoon.
Oahu is under a flash flood warning until 2 p.m. Radar and automated rain gauges indicate heavy rain falling over the entire island, with a rate of three inches per hour.
Conditions are expected to improve Friday night.
