HONOLULU (KHON2) — The father and son police brutality lawsuit against the city and several unnamed Honolulu police officers in connection with a New Years Day pursuit that happened last year is set to be spoken on Thursday.
The men said they were innocent bystanders on University Ave., from where the manhunt ended.
A shootout concluded with the death of Sidney Tafokitau and the wounding of two officers.
The federal lawsuit says Tevita Cadiente, 25, was rammed against a fence by a police vehicle and then beaten by multiple officers.
The lawsuit says Cadiente’s father, 49 year-old Vaokehekehe Mataele, was handcuffed and held on the University Ave. pavement.
