Pedestrian dies in Kaneʻohe hit-and-run

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian happened in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 25, in Kaneʻohe, the Honolulu Police Department confirmed.

According to HPD, an unidentified male pedestrian was crossing Kahekili Highway outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by an unknown northbound driver.

The driver fled the scene without rendering aid or providing information to authorities, officials said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, marking the 38th traffic death on Oʻahu this year, compared to 15 at the same time in 2024, HPD said.
