Queen’s Medical Center welcomes first patients to new ER

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Queen’s Medical Center’s new Uytengsu Family Emergency Department opened their doors for their first patients on June 25.

The first patient to enter the new emergency room received treatment within minutes.

The Queen’s Medical Center’s emergency department is the busiest in the islands, caring for more than 62,000 patients annually during their 24/7/365 operations.

The new, larger facility increases the number of treatment rooms from 35 to 76, provides state-of-the-art medical services, create a new space for those with behavioral health needs and improves patient flow for safety.

According to the medical center, the new facility is part of their commitment to their founders’, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, mission to provide quality healthcare services to improve the health of Native Hawaiians and all of Hawaiʻi’s people.
